Our sustainability journey

Positively impacting our environment, our people, and the next generation

Work with us -

Our mission and vision

Making a difference

Our mission as a responsible and sustainable business is to positively impact our environment, our people, and the next generation. To ensure we are acting on this mission, we have developed a sustainability strategy that aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We are committed to developing and upholding sustainable practices because we believe that the built environment plays an important role in achieving these goals, and we want to encourage others within our industry to do the same.

The Autex Sustainability report details our mission and vision, our sustainability strategy, and our five sustainability pillars.

Our commitments

Our collective vision

We acknowledge that global sustainability challenges can’t be tackled by one company alone, and we support the global movements calling for sustainable manufacturing and construction. We acknowledge the seriousness of these global challenges and have made public commitments to positive change. These are outlined below.

Our pillars

Overview

We believe it is our responsibility to operate sustainably. To ensure we are positively impacting our environment, our people, and the next generation, we have aligned our sustainability strategy with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Climate change

We actively monitor our carbon emissions and are committed to being a net-zero carbon organisation.

Closing the loop

We believe that we have a responsibility to ensure our products are as sustainable as possible over their lifecycle, and have developed processes and policies to support this belief.

Sustainable supply chain

Our product supply chain is global, and while this has a positive impact on many workers and their families, it also brings risk. We acknowledge this risk and aim to eliminate any unethical working practices in our supply chain. We carefully select the best suppliers to ensure we deliver quality products that have a responsible social and environmental track record.

Supporting well-being in buildings

Indoor air quality can be affected by the materials that are used in building interiors. We are committed to maximising health and safety in any space that features our products. A major contributor to reduced air quality are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) emitted from paints, finishes and other materials. In some cases, VOC levels can be up to five times higher indoors than outdoors.

Balancing purpose and profit

We endeavour to make sustainable decisions and support sustainable development at every opportunity. In saying that, we acknowledge that trading products and services do have negative environmental impacts that cannot be completely avoided. To help increase our positive impact on the environment and our community, we fund dedicated environmental and social programmes using the profits from our products, partnering with these community-lead initiatives to achieve restorative change.

Living Product 50 (LP50)

Striving to achieve the following goals:

The Living Product 50 (LP50) is a collaboration of leading manufacturers working to ensure that healthy, high performing building materials with full ingredient transparency are the rule, not the exception. Our collective vision is a future where every product is optimised to give more than it takes.

01

Leverage the collective voice of 50+ major building product manufacturers committed to sustainability to communicate more often and more effectively with other stakeholder groups in the green building industry.

02

Support the green built environment through transparency and optimisation of products, manufacturing operations, and supply chains.

03

Collectively develop sustainability initiatives, track progress, and report on the progress of the manufacturing community to various stakeholders.

04

Challenge both our customers and suppliers to better integrate and communicate sustainability initiatives.

Trust and transparency through independent verification

Our certifications

It is our responsibility as a sustainable business to have complete transparency around our processes and product ingredients, which is why we choose to have them independently verified by a trusted selection of third-party accreditors. By upholding sustainable practices in every aspect of our business, we can feel confident knowing our environmental certifications are more than just a label.
